Why can I wear them continuously? It is made possible thanks to a revolutionary silicone hydrogel material that allows your eyes to constantly “breathe” in oxygen. Ordinary contact lenses limit the amount of oxygen passing through them, which is why they have to be taken out at night. PureVision™ lenses on the other hand allows significantly more oxygen to pass through, which is why they can be worn for up to 30 days* without taking them out.Back to Top
What are PureVision™ contact lenses made of?PureVision™ lenses are produced for healthy, comfortable continuous wear from the breakthrough material Balafilcon A™ – a unique combination of Silicone and Hydrogel. Silicone allows a natural level of oxygen to pass through the lens to the cornea so your eye can ”breathe” and which facilitates the fluid transport to the eye. The Hydrogel ensures consistent wetability, which makes the lens very comfortable to wear.Back to Top

How safe are PureVision™ lenses? This product has been extensively tested for several years in both internal and external clinical trials around the world – with over 2,000 patients. Corneal swelling after overnight wear with PureVision™ was significantly less than corneal swelling with the leading extended wear hydrogel lenses.
Corneal swelling is caused when oxygen supply to the cornea is reduced. Corneal swelling with Pure Vision™ was found to be similar to published levels of corneal swelling after sleep without contact lenses.1
A 3-month study was conducted on the performance of PureVision™ against a number of low and high water content conventional hydrogel contact lenses. It compared rates of bacterial binding to exfoliated corneal epithelial cells following seven days of continuous wear. The low water HEMA lens produced a statistically significant increase in bacterial binding, while PureVisionä did not appear to produce more bacterial binding than wearing no lenses at all. A 12-month clinical study with 200 patients compared the performance of PureVision™ for 29 nights and 30 days of continuous wear with the leading extended wear lens for 7 days of continuous wear. There were no sight-threatening adverse events with either lens. Patient preference data indicates a statistically significant preference for PureVision™, in terms of comfort, visual acuity, lens dryness, ease of insertion, ease of handling and overall performance.
